Jamaica beat Windward Islands

Jamaica beat the Windward Islands by an innings and 97 runs after tea on today’s second day of the their fourth round TCL Group West Indies Under-19 three-day match at the Jamaica Broilers Group Oval.



Trailing Jamaica by 235 runs on first innings, the Windwards were bowled out for 138 in their second innings midway the last session.



Akeem Dewar was the destroyer with a seven-wicket haul. He had match haul of 11 for 72. Patrick Harty took two for 51 for match haul of six for 92.



Atticus Browne 40 and Hubert Joseph 24 were the top scorers for the Windwards in the second innings.



Earlier, Jamaica declared their first innings on 366 for five after resuming this morning on 185 for four. Jermaine Blackwood led the way with an undefeated 105, supported by Courtney Allen 72, Brian Clarke 70, Garth Garvey 35 and John Campbell 33.



As a result of the victory, Jamaica have now moved to 36 points to lead the six-team standings.



Over at JAMALCO, Guyana, trailing defending champions Barbados by 46 runs, reached 95 for four when rain stopped play at 4 o’clock.



At Chedwin Park, Trinidad and Tobago, replying to Leeward Islands’ first innings score of 174, declared their first innings on 323 for eight.



Leeward Islands, trailing by 149 runs on first innings, were 24 for one batting a second time at the close of play.
