St Kitts Prime Minister Dr Denzil Douglas is defending his administration’s decision to join the Venezuela-led PetroCaribe initiative.

Dr Douglas said his government is satisfied with the deal, as it has been beneficial to his country.

According to him, two years ago St Kitts consumed its entire fuel budget in four months because of the high price of oil at that time.

But the prime minister said since signing the PetroCaribe accord St Kitts has been able to meet its fuel bill.
