Sri Lanka captain Kumar Sangakkara scored a superb unbeaten 130 but the third and final Test against Pakistan in Colombo petered out to a draw today.

The host was attempting a world record target of 492 to seal a 3-0 whitewash over Pakistan.

However with the score on 391 for four and 15 overs remaining the captains agreed to end the game. Sri Lanka had resumed this morning on 183 for three and need a further 309 runs to reach the target.

Pakistan had appeared poised for a consolation victory at the start of the final day but could only take one wicket, that of Thilan Samaraweera for 73 after he had a 122-run partnership with Sangakkara.

Sangakkara then put on an unbroken 114 with Angelo Mathew, who was 33 not out at the end.

Final scores are Pakistan 299 and 425 for nine declared, Sri Lanka 233 and 391 for four.
