Opposition wants details of IMF loan

St Lucia’s Opposition Leader Dr. Kenny Anthony is demanding that Prime Minister Stephenson King reveal the conditions to be met as the government seeks financial support from the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

During the 2009/2010 budget presentation, Prime Minister King, who is also the finance minister, announced that his administration would be seeking funding from the IMF’s Exogenous Shock Facility.

However the opposition leader is claiming that the government is yet to provide details on the amount of funds being requested since that time.

He’s also concerned about the terms and conditions of a loan from the IMF.

Dr. Anthony says the government has a responsibility to the opposition and the public to divulge this information.
