Jamaican swimmers Jonathan Wong and Kendese Nangle failed to advance out of the first round at the 13th FINA Swimming World Championships being held in Rome.

Wong clocked one-minute 58.27 seconds in the men’s 200 metre Freestyle, while Nangle finished the women’s 100 metre Backstroke in one-minute 08.37 seconds.

Jamaica will next be represented by Brad Hamilton, who will be in action tomorrow in the men’s 50 metre Breaststroke.

This will be the second time for Hamilton in the Pool, following his national record swim in the 50-metre Butterfly sprint on yesterday’s first day of the swimming competition.

Hamilton clocked 25.68 to smash the previous national record of 25.90 seconds. He ended joint second with Suriname’s Marceliano Richards.
