Diplomat dies, police believe suicide
Belize police are continuing investigations into the death of the country\'s Ambassador to the Holy See (The Vatican), Oscar Ayuso, whose body was found with a single gunshot wound to his head on Friday night, according to a report on www.cananews.net.
The body of the 51-year-old diplomat was found at his home by his wife, Hilama, who was preparing dinner.
Police said they had recovered a revolver and eight rounds of ammunition at the residence of the diplomat in Bella Vista, about 15 miles outside of the capital.
Prior to his appointment as Belize\'s Ambassador to the Holy See in 2008, Oscar Ayuso served as a Senator and was at one time the Deputy Leader of the now governing United Democratic Party, (UDP).
Police are working on the theory that mounting financial problems may have contributed to the diplomat\'s death.
