Venezuela has withdrawn its ambassador and ended diplomatic relations with Colombia, following a dispute over weapons supplied to Colombian rebels.
President Hugo Chavez made the announcement yesterday while making an address on state television.
His announcement came a day after the Colombia government said weapons bought by Venezuela from Sweden had been obtained by the militant group, Revolutionary Armed Forces of Columbia.
However, the Venezuelan President has denied any involvement in the matter.
Meanwhile, Swedish authorities have launched an inquiry into how the militant group acquired the weapons.
