Jamaican achieves PB at FINA Champs
Jamaica’s Jonathan Wong achieved a personal best time of 53.35 in the Men’s 100 metre Freestyle event on today’s fourth day of the 13th FINA Swimming World Championships being held in Rome.
However, Wong did not get into the semifinals as the time recorded placed him 133rd out of the 204 entries.
In the same event, Jamaica’s Brad Hamilton achieved a faster time. He clocked 52.37 seconds, his best time in four years, to win heat 9 of 22. He did not qualify for the semifinals as his time placed him 110th out of the 204 entries.
Earlier, Kendese Nangl of Jamaica came close to her 50 metre Backstroke National Record of 31.08. Nangle clocked 31.53 to finish ninth in her heat.
Natasha Moodie will be the only Jamaican in action tomorrow. She will swim in the 100 metre Freestyle heats.
