Hearings of remaining athletes on today

The hearings for the other four Jamaican athletes who tested positive for a banned substance at the National Trials in June are scheduled for today.

Five athletes who were named to Jamaica’s team for the World Championships in Berlin, Germany from August 15 to 23 returned positive tests.

However, the disciplinary panel of the Jamaica Anti-Doping Commission (JADCO) cleared sprinter Sheri-Ann Brooks on Wednesday.

Kent Gammon, chairman of JADCO disciplinary panel, says the members heard the matter in respect of Brooks and determined that based on an irregularity with the testing of the ‘B’ sample there was no conclusion, beyond a reasonable doubt to determine the positive finding of the ‘A’ sample.

However, JADCO has appealed to the disciplinary panel’s findings which means the case could be heading to a tribunal panel.

The other four members who will face the disciplinary panel are Marvin Anderson, Yohan Blake, Allodin Fothergill and Lansford Spence.
