The main opposition St. Lucia Labour Party (SLP) has called for the resignations of two government ministers.

The call comes less than a week after the High Court agreed that one of the ministers had used concessions granted to him two years ago under the Tourism Incentive Act to furnish a private property.

SLP and Opposition Leader Dr. Kenny Anthony told a news conference that Health Minister Dr. Keith Mondesir and the Attorney General Dr. Nicholas Frederick should submit their resignations following the ruling.

Lawyers for Anthony had argued that Mondesir facilitated by the Cabinet of Ministers had used concessions granted to him in 2007 to furnish a private property at Bonne Terre.

Anthony had argued further that the Cabinet decision was intended to prevent the Customs from taking legal action against Mondesir.

The health minister had earlier expressed confidence that he would have been vindicated claiming that the court case was politically motivated.
