The Brazilian athletics federation has suspended three athletes after they tested positive for the banned endurance-booster EPO.

The federation said in a statement that Bruno Lins Tenorio de Barros, Jorge Celio da Rocha Sena and Lucimara Silvestre waived their rights to have their \"B\" samples examined.

They were suspended until June 14, 2011.

Two other athletes, Josiane da Silva Tito and Luciana Franca, also failed doping tests ahead of the upcoming world championships in Germany. They have not said if they will ask for their \"B\" samples to be tested.

Barros ran in the 4 by 100 metre relay at the Beijing Olympics last year, while Silvestre competed in the women\'s heptathlon and Tito was in the women\'s 4 by 400 relay.
