Blackwood decline invitation to represent Jamaica

Former world number one 400-metre runner Michael Blackwood has declined a late offer to represent Jamaica at the World Championships.



Blackwood, who won bronze in the 400 metres at the 2003 Paris Championships and helped Jamaica to bronze in the 4 by 400 metre relay, also announced his retirement.



Blackwood said his performances this year were not encouraging to perform at his best.



The 32 year old Blackwood said it was a tough decision to retire.
