US wins trade case against China

The World Trade Organisation (WTO) has ruled against China’s restrictions on the importation of American DVD’s and other media products into that country.
The ruling states that China’s current policy of only allowing the goods to be imported by state-run organisations broke global trade agreements.
It however upheld China’s limits on the distribution of US films and made no ruling on Chinese censorship.
US trade representative Ron Kirk has described the ruling as a significant victory, as it will ensure market access for legitimate US products in Chinese markets.
