Women’s League Round Up

Defending champions Barbican beat Portmore Strikers 1-0 at Racing Oval in their top-of-the-table Zone ‘A’ game in the Sherwin Williams-sponsored Women’s Football League yesterday.



Kerry-Ann Douglas scored the only goal of the match in the 86th minute to lead Barbican to 34 points, eight clear of second place Portmore Strikers.



In other Zone ‘A’ games, third place Trelawny Women and bottom place Constant Spring played to a goalless draw at Elliston Wakeland Centre, while fifth place Arnett Gardens hammered fourth place Maverley Hughenden 4-1 at Anthony Spaulding Complex.



Over in Zone ‘B’, Harbour View registered a come-from-behind 2-1 victory over Waterhouse at the Harbour View Stadium.



Despite the defeat, Waterhouse are still ahead in the points table. They are on 34 points, three ahead of second place Harbour View on 31.



In other Zone ‘B’ games, third place Reno and bottom place Olympic Gardens battled to a goalless draw at Cling Cling Oval, while second-from- the-bottom Santos edged fourth place Meadhaven United 1-0 at Michigan Avenue.
