Bolt says Jamaica relay team ready
Beijing Olympic triple gold medallist Usain Bolt said the Jamaican relay squad will not be affected by the fight over training camp attendance which almost saw anchor runner Asafa Powell cut from the squad.
Bolt said the team is looking good in practice.
Jamaica reinstated former world record holder Powell late yesterday under intense pressure from the world athletics federation, which said the attendance of the strongest possible team superseded the need to impose sanctions now.
Powell and four other top athletes had not attended a mandatory training camp in Nuremberg, Germany and the Jamaica Amateur Athletics Association had requested their withdrawal from the entry list.
The other athletes reported missing from the camp were 100 Olympic champion Shelly-Ann Fraser, 400 hurdles Olympic gold medalist Melaine Walker, sprint hurdler Brigitte Foster-Hylton and Beijing Olympic silver medallist Shericka Williams.
All the athletes are from the MVP Track Club and trained by Stephen Francis.
Last year, Jamaica set a world record in winning the Olympic gold medal. It was the third world record and third title for Bolt.
