Opposition senator resigns

Opposition senator Kerrie Symmonds has resigned.



Mr Symmonds resigned yesterday, a day before local newspapers said he was due to appear in court on a matter stemming from a domestic dispute with his estranged wife.



Symmonds, said he made the decision in the interest of the Barbados Labour Party.



He also said he needs the time to deal with a personal matter.



Opposition Leader Mia Mottley accepted his resignation and thanked him for his service to the country and the Labour Party.
