Eleven Jamaicans in action tomorrow

Eleven Jamaicans, including Beijing Olympic triple gold medallist Usain Bolt, will be in action on tomorrow’s opening day of the World Championships in Berlin, Germany.



Bolt, who ran 9.69 seconds and 19.30 seconds to smash the 100 metres and 200 metres world records in Beijing last summer, will contest Heat 9 of the men’s 100 metres at 5.36 a.m. Jamaica time.



Former World 100-metre record holder Asafa Powell is down to contest Heat 3, while Michael Frater will run in the opening heat at 4.40 a.m.



Kimberly Williams and Trecia Smith will be the first two Jamaicans in action when they contest the first round of the women’s Triple Jump, scheduled for 4 a.m.



Also in the morning session, Christine Day, Novlene Williams-Mills and Shericka Williams will compete in the first round of the women’s 400 metres, set to start at 5.50 a.m.



The other Jamaicans down to compete on the opening day are Isa Phillips, Josef Robertson and Danny McFarlane in the first round of the men’s 400-metre hurdles.



They are down to be on track in the afternoon session. Phillips will contest the first heat at 1.20 p.m. Jamaica time.
