New Zealand, replying to hosts Sri Lanka’s first innings total of 452, were 87 for two at stumps on today’s second day of the opening Test at Galle.
New Zealand opener Tim McIntosh was unbeaten on 36 in a patient 88-ball innings, batting with night watchman Jeetan Patel on six.
Earlier, Thilan Samaraweera, who resumed this morning on 82 top-scored with 159 to take Sri Lanka to their big total.
Sri Lanka had resumed on 293 for three.
