Sri Lanka takes control in first Test

Muttiah Muralitharan and Thilan Thushara shared six wickets as hosts Sri Lanka seized control of the first cricket test against New Zealand, reducing the visitors\' first innings to 281 for 8 at stumps on day three.



The match is being played at Galle International Stadium



The Black Caps, who resumed this morning on 87 for two, are now 171 runs behind Sri Lanka’s first innings total of 452.



Tim McIntosh has so far top scored for New Zealand with 69, while Jesse Ryder scored 42 and Ross Taylor 35.



The batsmen at the crease are Daniel Vettori 33 not out and Iain O’brien three not out.



Sri Lanka was bowled out for 452 on Wednesday, losing the last six wickets for just 66 runs as seamer Chris Martin and spinner Vettori took four wickets each.
