Jamaica wins bronze medal in Netball Championship

Jamaica beat England 48-42 to win the bronze medal at the 2009 World Youth Netball Championships at the New Tereora Multi Purpose Sporting Complex in the Cook Islands last night.



The Young Sunshine Girls were ahead 26-21 at half time.



Romelda Aiken led the way for Jamaica with 29 goals from 33 attempts. Crystal Gordon had 12 from 16 and Christine Solmon 7 from 7.



For England, Monique Wood had 20 from 25 and Joanne Harten scored 19 from 26.



Australia won the gold medal, beating defending champions New Zealand 64-46, while Malawi beat the Cook Islands 61-48 for fifth place.
