Barbados Gov’t presses on with immigration plans

The Barbados government says it does not intend to abandon plans to introduce a comprehensive immigration strategy.
A public opinion survey has shows widespread support for the Government’s recent stance on the matter.
Prime Minister David Thompson says the Government’s comprehensive immigration policy will be introduced shortly.
According to the latest public opinion poll 70 per cent of Barbadians support Thompson’s recent stance on immigration.
More than half of those surveyed also approved the government’s decision to offer a six-month amnesty for illegal Caribbean Community nationals to regularise their status or face deportation.
