Stanford must remain behind bars

The Appeals Court in New Orleans in the United States has upheld the ruling of a Houston court that accused swindler Allen Stanford must remain in a US jail until his fraud trial.



Mr. Stanford is accused of leading a 7 billion dollar fraud involving certificates of deposit issued by his Antigua international bank.



Stanford has been in US federal custody since his arrest in Virginia on June 18.



Two months ago a District Judge in Houston ruled that he Stanford was a flight risk and should remain in custody.



No trial date has been set, but the former cricket entrepreneur is scheduled to reappear in court on Thursday.
