World 7 beat New Zealand

The World Seven team without Jamaicans Romelda Aiken and Althea Byfield defeated hosts New Zealand 48-44 in the first test of the New World International Netball Series at the TSB Bank Arena last night.



Star shooter Aiken, resting a knee injury was not on the roster for the match and Byfield sat on the bench for the entire game.



The World 7 led the quarters 13-12, 25-22, 38-34 with Samoa’s Cathrine Latu top scoring with 38 goals from 44 attempts.



Irene van Dyk was the top scorer for New Zealand with 26 from 30 attempts.



The second Test is slated for Rotorua tomorrow evening and Aiken is expected to join the World 7 squad.
