A new report on cancer has revealed that developing countries account for 5 per cent of the world\'s expenditure on the disease treatment despite having almost half of new cases worldwide.
The report, released at an international conference in Dublin, Ireland, said cancer was once seen as a disease of rich nations but is now rising in poor countries.
The conference also heard that the number of cases worldwide is set to more than double over the next 20 years without a huge investment in cancer prevention.
This year\'s global cancer control shortfall is put at more than US$200 billion.
