A deal has been reached between the Government of Trinidad and Tobago and the island’s football administrators to officially call all national sports teams ‘The Soca Warriors.’
T&T Football Federation special advisor, Jack Warner, says every national team that leaves the country, whether it is basketball, football or cricket, can use the name Soca Warriors.
This followed a meeting between Warner, who is also a FIFA vice-president, and T&T Sports Minister Gary Hunt.
The first team to benefit from the scheme will be the national cricket team, which takes part in the Twenty/Twenty Champions League in India in October.
