The Williams sisters will not meet in the US Open following the draw, which took place yesterday.

Serena and Venus Williams have met in eight Grand Slam finals, most recently at Wimbledon last month.

The Number 2-seeded Serena and Number 3 Venus are in the same half of the U.S. Open field, meaning they could face each other only in the semifinals of the year\'s last major tournament.

The women\'s quarterfinals could be Number One Dinara Safina versus Number Five Jelena Jankovic, and Number Four Elena Dementieva against Number 6 Svetlana Kuznetsova in the top half; Serena Williams versus Number Seven Vera Zvonareva, and Venus Williams playing Number Eight Victoria Azarenka in the bottom half.

Meanwhile, Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal could meet in the men’s final

The top-seeded Federer and Number Three Nadal were drawn into opposite halves of the field meaning they could face each other in the final.

The U.S. Open begins on Monday.
