Tribunal to continue hearing athletes case today

The Jamaica Anti-Doping Appeals Tribunal is now conducting a public hearing for the five athletes accused of doping violations at the Institute of Jamaica, East Street.

The tribunal is hearing an appeal by the Jamaica Anti-Doping Commission (JADCO) against the decision of the Jamaica Anti-Doping Disciplinary Panel to clear the athletes.

Sheri-Ann Brooks, Yohan Blake, Marvin Anderson, Lansford Spence and Allodin Fothergill returned Adverse Analytical Findings for the substance Methyl Hexanamine during the National Championships in June.

While Brooks was cleared because of an irregularity in testing her ‘B’ sample, the four others were cleared because the Jamaica Anti Doping Disciplinary Panel said it did not found any evidence to suggest that an anti-doping violation occurred.

Kent Gammon, chairman of the disciplinary panel said last month the substance was not on the banned list of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA).
