South Africa captain Graeme Smith should be fit for the start of the International Cricket Council (ICC) Champions Trophy, despite pulling out of two practice games.

Smith had surgery in June to solve a long-standing tennis elbow injury.

He will miss two warm-up games against the Highveld Lions later this week but should return for another practice game against West Indies on September 17.

Smith first suffered the injury during the Indian Premier League in April 2008 but kept postponing the surgery in order to make himself available for a busy international schedule.

He played in South Africa\'s two recent series against Australia, finally going under the knife after the ICC World 20/20.

Smith has already been named in South Africa\'s squad for the tournament, as well as the Cape Cobras\' squad for the Champions League in India this October.
