Regional health meeting in Guyana
Health officials from CARICOM are to meet in Georgetown, Guyana later this month to discuss a number of initiatives related to the HIV/AIDS epidemic in the region.
The Guyana-based CARICOM Secretariat said the meeting of the Regional Co-ordinating Mechanism of the Pan Caribbean Partnership Against HIV and AIDS (PANCAP) will be held from September 17 to 18.
Dominica’s Health Minister John Fabien as well as his Guyanese counterpart, Dr Leslie Ramsammy and PANCAP Director Carl Browne will address the meeting.
The meeting will also receive reports on the status of programmes and projects being implemented by PANCAP as well as the ongoing re-organisation of the PANCAP Co-ordinating Unit.
The meeting will also discuss the second phase of the United States President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief as well as arrangements for PANCAP’s ninth annual general meeting to be held in Grenada from October 29 to 30.
