WI Dwayne Smith lead Sussex to win Nottinghamshire
Out-of-favour West Indies batsman Dwayne Smith snatched a spectacular hat-trick in a devastating six-wicket haul to lead Sussex to a crushing 152-run win over Nottinghamshire in their Pro 40 Division One game yesterday at County Ground.
Smith claimed 6-29 including a four-wicket maiden with his medium pace to send Notts crashing to 102 all out off 21.3 overs, after Sussex scored 254 from their allotted 40 overs.
Cruising at 67-2, Notts’ middle order was destroyed by Smith who grabbed the next five wickets for the addition of just five runs in the space of 17 balls.
He sparked the collapse by yorking Adam Voges for one at 68-3 in the 13th over and then proceeded to take four wickets in his next over as Notts plunged to 73-7.
Earlier, the right-handed Smith slammed 27 from 21 balls with two sixes and a four.
