KC beat Ardenne

Kingston College began the 2009 season of the Inter-Secondary Schools Sports Association/Pepsi/Digicel Manning Cup competition on a winning note yesterday with a 3-0 victory over Ardenne High in Group ‘B’.



The match was played at Clovelly Park.



In other Group ‘B’ games, St Jago and Norman Manley also got off to perfect starts.



St Jago defeated Jose Marti 3-0, while Norman Manley secured a 1-0 victory over Haile Selassie.



In Group ‘C’, Excelsior beat Tarrant 3-0, Cumberland outscored Trench Town 2-0, while Calabar and Campion College ended goalless.



Over in Group ‘F’ Charlie Smith and Ascot battled to a goalless draw.



The competition continues this afternoon at 3.30 p.m. with nine games in three Groups.



In the rural area daCosta Cup competition, Herbert Morrison came from two goals down to earn a

2-2 draw against Green Pond in Zone ‘A’



In Zone ‘D’, William Knibb beat Browns Town 3-0, York Castle got by Marcus Garvey 2-0, while Ocho Rios edged Aabuthnott Gallimore High School 1-0.



Over in Zone ‘J’, Bog Walk beat Charlemont 2-0, Ewarton edged McGrath 2-1 and Dinthill and Glengoffe batted to a 2-2 draw.



In other games, St Mary Technical defeated Oracabessa 3-0 and Brimmervale and St Mary High played to a 1-1 draw in Zone K.



The competition continues tomorrow with 17 games.
