JC hammer Penwood

Last year’s beaten finalist Jamaica College hammered Penwood 5-0 yesterday in a Group ‘A’ game to get their campaign off to a winning start in the 2009 Inter-Secondary Schools Sports Association/Pepsi/Digicel Manning Cup competition.



In the other Group ‘A’ game, Waterford and Donald Quarried battled to a goalless draw.



Over in Group ‘D’, St Andrew Technical High School beat Papine 4-0, while Camperdown also won 4-0, this against Meadowbrook.



Over in Group ‘E’ Bridgeport outclassed Kingston High 7-0, Tivoli defeated Holy Trinity 2-0 and St Andrew College edged St Catherine 1-0.



Meanwhile, the late withdrawal of Clan Carthy denied Wolmer’s to get their campaign off yesterday.



The competition continues tomorrow with nine games in three Groups.



In the rural-area daCosta Cup competition, St Technical High School started their campaign on a winning note when they spanked Yallahs 5-0 in their Zone L ‘B’ game at Yallahs in St Thomas.



Titchfield also got off to a winning start, clipping Buff Bay 1-0 in their Zone L ‘A’ fixture, while Port Antonio clipped Happy Grove 1-0.



The competition continues this afternoon with 19-games in eight zones.



All matches are scheduled to kick off at 3.30 p.m.
