Minister of Sports Olivia ‘Babsy’ Grange says track and field in Jamaica will shortly receive greater focus following the athletes’ performances at the World Championship in Berlin, Germany.
The performance at Berlin was the best by any Jamaican team at a global championship.
Jamaica ended with 13 medals – seven gold, four silver and two bronze to surpass the 10 medals won at the 2007 championships in Osaka, Japan.
Usain Bolt, who arrived in the country earlier this week, was the star of the meet with his two world records in the 100 metres and 200 metres.
He ran the third leg on the men’s 4x100-metre team to repeat the triple-gold performance he had in Beijing last year.
