Hotel rates at lowest in Caribbean

The latest Hotel Price Index, operated by the website hotel.com is reporting a significant drop in hotel rates in the Caribbean.
The index also indicates that the rates have fallen well below the world average.
It says the average price of a room around the world fell by 17 percent in the first six months of 2009.
However in the Caribbean, rates dropped by just two percent.
The global decrease was attributed to hotels chasing a dwindling number of tourists, forcing them to drop prices.
