Manning Cup Round Up
Camperdown, Bridgeport High and Tivoli Gardens all recorded victories yesterday to keep their perfect records in the Inter-Secondary-Schools Sports Association/Pepsi/Digicel Manning Cup competition.
Camperdown defeated hosts Papine 5-1 to remain top of Group ‘D’ with nine points, Bridgeport High hammered Holy Trinity 5-0 and Tivoli Gardens edged St Catherine 2-1.
Following the victories, Bridgeport and Tivoli Gardens are locked on nine points each at the top of Group ‘E’.
In another Group ‘E’ game, Kingston High rebounded from last week’s 7-0 whipping against Bridgeport to beat St Andrew College 2-1.
Over in Group ‘A’, Waterford upset previous unbeaten Jamaica College 1-0, Penwood beat Pembroke Hall 2-1 and Edith Dalton James defeated Donald Quarrie 3-0.
In the day’s other game, Wolmer’s and St Andrew Technical High School battled to a 2-2 draw in Group ‘D’.
The competition continues this afternoon with nine games in three groups.
Defending champions St George’s College will play away to St Mary’s College in Group ‘F’. The North Street-based school picked up its first win from two games on Saturday following a 3-0 victory over Ascot.
All games will start at 3:30, except the Group ‘B’ clash between hosts Norman Manley and Innswood at Tinson Pen. That game is scheduled to kick off at 1:30.
