Extradition hearing of Antiguan regulator postponed

The hearing of a United States extradition request for Antigua\'s former financial regulator has been postponed until December.

The public prosecutor\'s office said the hearing for Leroy King has been delayed because defence lawyers requested more time to prepare.

Mr King was fired as Antigua\'s top financial regulator because of ties to an alleged $7 billion scheme by jailed Texas financier Sir Allen Stanford to swindle investors.

The US alleges that King accepted bribes to ignore Mr Stanford\'s activities, and wrote false and misleading letters to the US Securities and Exchange Commission.
