Taiwanese delegation to visit Caribbean
Taiwan is seeking to extend its trading relationship with the Caribbean and as a result, a delegation from the Taiwan External Trade Development Council is due in St. Vincent next week on a two-day promotional visit, according to a report on www.cananews.net.
\"We used to focus on the United States and Europe, now we have extended it to the Caribbean and Latin American area and that is why they (the delegation) are coming here,\" said Taiwanese ambassador Leo Lee, adding that the delegation will hold a number of activities during the visit including a trade fair.
\"They will showcase their products in this fair,\" he said, adding that the visit is intended to improve trade relations between the two countries.
\"The intention is for them to come here and introduce their products and to meet with your exports. This year is also one for extending trade for Taiwan because our President has reiterated that Taiwan has to diversify in terms of its trading partners.\"
Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves is expected to address the opening of the trade fair.
The delegation will also visit Trinidad and Tobago and St. Lucia during their Caribbean tour that ends on October 4.
