The West Indies now face a must-win situation against defending champions Australia after going down by five wickets to Pakistan in their opening Champions Trophy match at the Wanderers yesterday.

The Caribbean side will face Australia in its second game on Saturday at Johannesburg.

In yesterday’s game, West Indies pacer Gavin Tonge claimed a career-best 4-25 from his allotted 10 overs after his side was bowled out for 133 inside 35 overs.

However, his performance could not prevent the West Indies from losing as Pakistan sealed the first Group ‘A’ result in 31 overs at 134-5.

Umar Akmal led Pakistan home with an undefeated 41.

Earlier, Nikita Miller struck six fours and one six to top scored for West Indies with 51 from 57 balls to add some respectability to their total.

Only two other West Indies batsmen reached double figures, Darren Sammy made 25 and Devon Smith got 18.
