Cornwall College beat Green Pond
Many-time champions Cornwall College stole the spotlight in Zone ‘A’ of the 2009 ISSA/Pepsi/Digicel daCosta Cup yesterday, when they clipped Green Pond High 2-1.
As a result of the victory, Cornwall College have moved to maximum nine points from three games, the same as defending champions St James High who were idle yesterday because of the late withdrawal of Maldon High.
In the other Zone ‘A’ game, Muschett Comprehensive High handed Herbert Morrison a 4-3 defeat.
Over in Zone L (a), Port Antonio made it four wins from four starts with a 3-0 win against Buff Bay, while St Elizabeth Technical High School joined Munro College atop the Zone ‘E’ standings with a 3-0 victory against Lacovia. Munro drew 1-1 with Balaclava.
In another Zone ‘E’ games, Black River hammered Newell 4-0.
In Zone ‘C’, Little London edged Grange Hill 2-1 and Mannings blanked Petersfield 2-0.
In Zone ‘F’, Bellefield hammered Decarteret 7-0, Belair and Cross Keys battled to a 2-2 draw while Manchester defeated May Day 6-1.
Over in Zone ‘I’, the game between Glenmuir and Kemps ended 1-1 and in Zone L (b) Paul Bogle edged Morant Bay 1-0 and Seaforth outscored Yallahs 4-3.
The competition continues this afternoon with a total of nine games spanning zones D, J and K.
All games are scheduled to start at 3:30.
