Bosnian leader wants Trini judge removed from Tribunal

The former Bosnian Serb leader, Radovan Karadzic, has asked for the removal of the Trinidad and Tobago member of the Yugoslav war crimes tribunal that will hear his trial.

Mr. Karadzic is due to go on trial next month for genocide and crimes against humanity.

He has asked the tribunal to take 69-year-old Trinidad and Tobago judge Melville Baird off the panel that will hear his case.

Mr. Karadzic says Mr. Baird is too old to be appointed a judge at his own country’s highest court and therefore is ineligible to serve at the UN court.
