Windies legends for International Masters tournament

West Indies legends, including Sir Vivian Richards, Joel Garner and Courtney Walsh, will adorn the famous Kensington Oval in November during the inaugural staging of an international masters tournament, according to a report on www.cananews.net.



Organisers Cricket Legends of Barbados Inc. (CLOBI) have labelled the over-35 age-group event from November 27 to December 5, the CLOBI International Cup, carrying a winning prize of US$50,000.



Former stars from England, South Africa, Sri Lanka will also appear at the tournament and CLOBI organisers announced Tuesday that the tournament would be expanded next year to include the other Test-playing countries Australia, India, New Zealand and Pakistan.



Apart from Sir Vivian, Garner, and Walsh, other past West Indies players booked to appear include Gordon Greenidge, Collis King, and Jimmy Adams.



Local ex-internationals Courtney Browne, Sherwin Campbell, Vasbert Drakes and Ian Bradshaw are also in the West Indies line-up along with Nevisian Stuart Williams, Jamaican Nehemiah Perry and still active Grenadian Rawl Lewis.



England\'s squad should include Graham Thorpe, Mark Ramprakash, Dominic Cork, Neil Fairbrother, John Emburey and Caribbean-born players Devon Malcolm and Phil Defreitas,



South Africa will be represented by Lance Klusener, Brian McMillan, Dale Benkenstein, Paul Adams, and Pat Symcock and the strong-looking Sri Lanka squad is set to include Asanka Gurusinghe, Arjuna Ranatunga, Marvan Atapattu, Hashan Tillakaratne, and Russel Arnold.



Garner, who is the Barbados Cricket Association (BCA) president, plans to use the event to motivate young players.



\"We will look at our squads and our players and try as best as we can to have them around Kensington and to have people (former players) meet with them and talk with them to try to give them the encouragement,\" Garner said.
