The St Kitts government has been granted leave to appeal a contempt of court ruling against Attorney General Dennis Merchant.
The Eastern Caribbean Court of Appeal has also issued an order granting leave to appeal the refusal of High Court Judge Rita Joseph-Olivetti to discharge injunctions which were issued by her predecessor in the case.
The main opposition People’s Action Movement had sought the injunctions after challenging moves by the government to change the country’s electoral boundaries.
The government’s lead attorney Anthony Astaphan described the Appeal Court ruling as a good first step.
