Zelaya rejects proposal for him to resign
Honduran President Jose Manuel Zelaya has rejected a proposal for him to resign, making way for a new leader of the country.
President Zelaya told the CNN a delegate representing de facto President Roberto Micheletti put the proposal to him.
Presidnet Zelaya says the delegate proposed that he and Micheletti step a side and allow a new person to take over the presidency.
However Zelaya said this proposal is unacceptable, adding that it would just mean replacing one leader put into power by a coup with another non-elected president.
President Zelaya was ousted from office by a military coup on June 28.
He says he is the rightful president of Honduras and has vowed to remain at the Brazilian embassy as long as it takes before his return to Honduras.
