Officials in the Philippines say rescue workers are being overwhelmed by floods that have killed at least 140 people.
Torrential rains from Tropical Storm Ketsana flooded the capital, Manila, and 25 nearby provinces on Saturday.
The head of the National Disaster Co-ordinating Council, Anthony Golez, says rescuers are now focusing on massive relief operations.
Meanwhile, Defence Minister Gilbert Teodoro says troops, police and volunteers have so far rescued more than 7 thousand 900 people with 32 still missing.
Over the weekend, the government declared a state of calamity in Manila and the 25 storm-hit provinces.
However, the Philippine government has not yet requested international help but says it would welcome any assistance.
