Court charges Belize mayor

The Mayor of Belize City, Zenaida Moya Flowers is expected to be charged today in connection with the misappropriation of funds from the City Council.
Earlier this year a forensic audit of the City Council\'s accounts found that $139,000 was unaccounted for.
The Director of Public Prosecutions has ordered that the mayor and two other city council employees be arrested on charges of failure to comply with City Council regulations.
Mayor Flowers is the first elected official in Belize to face criminal charges while in office.
