Chicago eliminated from hosting the 2016 Summer Olympics

In a stunning development, Chicago was the first city eliminated today in Copenhagen at the International Olympic Committee’s voting to name the host city for the 2016 Summer Olympics.



Earlier, Chicago, Tokyo, Rio de Janeiro and Madrid made final pitches to the International Olympic Committee, with US President Barack Obama and his Brazilian counterpart Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva pitching their star power against each other in emotional pushes for their cities.



Rio and Chicago’s presentations were particularly impassioned.
