Australia beat England to reach final
Australia recorded a convincing nine-wicket victory over England at SuperSport Park earlier this afternoon to advance to the final of the Champions Trophy in South Africa.
Set 258 to win, the defending champions reached the target with 49 balls remaining with Shane Watson undefeated on 136 and skipper Ricky Ponting 111 not out.
The only wicket to fall was Tim Paine for four.
Earlier, a 107-run partnership for the seventh wicket between Tim Bresnan, 80 and Luke Wright, 48, allowed England to recover from 101 for six to reach 257 off 47.4 overs.
Peter Siddle was the most successful bowler for Australia with three for 55 off his 10 overs. Brett Lee and Shane Watson supported with two wickets apiece.
The second semifinal between Pakistan and New Zealand will take place tomorrow at the Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg.
