Jamaica got its Olympic qualification campaign off to a bad start in the first Americas Olympic boxing-qualifying tournament taking place in Trinidad and Tobago.

Jose Payares of Venezuela outclassed Jamaican Andre Reid in their Super Heavyweight fight at the Jean Pierre Complex.

Payares won 19 to 1 on points.

Top amateur boxers from 25 countries are using the tournament to try to qualify for the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, China.
