Trinidad Cement Limited (TCL) and its subsidiary, TCL Guyana Inc. has filed an application in the CCJ seeking to have the Guyana government held in contempt of court.

The cement manufacturers are claiming that the Bharrat Jagdeo government has failed to implement the Common External Tariff on cement from non-Caribbean Community as ordered by the CCJ in August.

On August 20, the CCJ ruled that Guyana was in breach of the provisions of the external tariff and ordered the government to rectify the situation by September 17.

But according to the TCL Guyana has not taken steps to comply with the ruling of the Court.

The CCJ currently deals with trade matters in CARICOM.
