Jamaican female champion Nigella Saunders and 2007 men’s champion, Canadian-based Charles Pyne are the top seeds for this year’s renewal of the All Jamaica Badminton Championship scheduled for this weekend at the Constant Spring Golf Club’s Racquet Complex.
Saunders, who was ranked among the top 32 players in the world in 2004 when she gained an Olympic berth, took both the ladies singles and doubles last year. However, she will only be defending her singles title this time.
Payne earns the number one seeded position in the men’s draw by virtue of being the only player in the draw with a world ranking.
The men’s draw will also feature Gareth Henry, Garron Palmer and the overseas-based pair of Dayvon Reid and Daniel Thompson.
